Our elegant horse is on my front porch, and has developed a bay-colored patina since the recent rains. He greets our friends, clients and colleagues as they enter the house. He has been in a couple of shows, and for years was a beautiful part of our living room in our Woodside house. Our dog Hasso circled around the horse and barked at him until he figured out he was made of steel and bronze, and Hasso was suddenly sheepish and embarrassed, as though we had tricked him. Now the horse is here with me in Palo Alto.
